lab B1

I really thought that my jump roping lesson went very well. I felt organized and I think I looked more comfortable and sounded mre confident. Looking at my transcript, I did a good job of pinpointing and I also gave so a great deal of feedback which I think really made my lesson better. I think I simplified the cues and just told the students what they needed to know and let them have more practicing and less time listening to instruction.

Transcript

I thought the transcript really opens your eyes and makes you realize how you sound and what words you tend to say. I also think I should talk more loudly and try to be more clear. I need not use things like alright and um. By seeing this I can try to change how I speak. I also need to try to use peoples names more often by giving them feedback.

lab A2 teaching

http://

I thought the second time coding went much better. My percentages were not exactly what they were supposed to be and I felt as if I ran out of time to get my whole lesson taught. I felt more organized this time, but I think I tried to do too much in a short period of time, with too many instructions. I felt that I had more confidence and using techniques such as a hook, signal of attention, cues, and a demonstration I think I was able to give information in a more organized and useful way. I still need to work on creating more activity time to give the students as much exercise as possible. The more practice the better I will get and even after only the second time being taped I feel more relaxed already.

time coding

Well overall I really wasn't too much over the percentages that were recommended as far as management, instruction, activity and waiting were concerned. Watching the video again and in more depth I did notice how during the instruction there was a lot of fidgeting and moving around. I can see that I need to speed up the instruction as well as increase the difficulty and vary the tasks that I am having the students do to keep their attention and to keep them interested in the activity. I think time coding really helps to see how you are using your time and makes it easy to see where you need to make changes to get students more active.

Lesson Intro

http://

I'm starting to get more comfortable in front of the camera and building up some more confidence. I also found a signal of attention that I could use other than a whistle that I never would have thought of before. I always thought since I coundn't whistle that there weren't many other options. I think I need to pronunciate more and try to project more voice a little more. The volume that I spoke in I could hear, but a little louder wouldn't hurt. My arms were very rigid and I looked nervous. I need to just relax and loosen up in front of the camera. I had good cues, but I wish I had thought of shorter and straight to the point cues so that students would remember more easily. Other than wanting to change my cues I think I gave a clear demonstration and I sounded fairly intelligible. Next time I would like to have more a catch and be more energetic to grab attention and I feel that if I was more energetic then the students will be more eager to learn.

Teaching

http:
//

1. During my teaching lesson everyone was actively participating and performing the skill, passing the soccer ball correctly. I felt that I was fairly organized and gave a clear explanation of the skill as well as a demonstration of the skill before the students attempted the skill. I also challenged the students and had them pass a further distance and attempt passing with their nondominant foot as well.

2. I think I need to be more confident in the material that I am presenting and teaching to the class. I also would like to try and incorporate more games and activities and try to be a little more unique with the presentation of my teaching. Rather than doing that same old boring drills I would like to have games and competitions to catch the students attention and get them more involved and have them enjoy pe and have them want to participate.

3. I think if i have more confidance then the students will listen better and they will be more motivated. By creating more games and a mnore unique approach to teaching skills students will be more excited and motivated to actively participate. Students that are having fun and learning will be able to get more out of the lesson and hopefull enjoy sports and activities enough that they will want to participate outside of pe class.

First Day of Class

I was a bit nervous when we were thrown into a situation where you had to think on your feet. I think it was a good experience to have to think of a lesson plan and teach people you didn't know. Overall I think being able to have the skills to create a lesson with no previous planning is a very good skill to have and that you are a more valuable teacher if you have this quality.
